The US troops have started leaving Iraqi cities this week, by handing over the authority to local Iraqi security people. The US troops have been stationed in Iraq for over six years since the invasion took place, which saw the overthrowing of the then powerful Iraqi leader Saddam Hussain.
The US troops will be more than happy to leave the trouble torn Iraq, since they have not been able to wrest real control over the country. The US troops have been losing soldiers almost on a daily basis , succumbing to the guerrilla attacks on them by the terrorists and militants creeping in from Afghanistan and Iran and Syria.
Peace returning to Iraq is not guaranteed post withdrawal of the US troops, because it is surrounded by rouge countries with strong militants nurturing record.
