On Tuesday developing countries like India, China ,Brazil and South Africa sought out their differences and united as BASIC group. These countries wanted to bring in the common position in some of the changes in the present month which was a climate change conference. The conference was held in Durban which had asked the West to have an extension of the Kyoto Protocol and also having financial and technological assistance.In a joint statement given in the conference it stated that they need to achieve a comprehensive,fair and a balanced outcome under the Kyoto Protocol.

The Summit success was seen and the essential priority was given climate regime and some second commitments was included in the front. The meeting took place between the environment ministers of the BASIC countries and had bought in a lot of attention from the world. There was seen that south Africa has been under some pressure and needed to strike balance between the BASIC group position. The West showed their more enthusiasm towards the summit by taking up additional responsibility and host the summit in the place.

The lead climate negotiator Alf Wills from South Africa had to limit some speeches over some reports which stated that his country was crossing the limits of BASIC. But these words were prevented by the Africa speaker saying that Africa has been following the legal obligation and have even following their responsibilities.
