British Airways was one of the most profitable airlines till 2008. But all that changed dramatically when it reported a massive loss for the first time in the financial year that ended in March 2009. Now the company is expecting the losses to mount further this year, and is planning to cut another 1700 jobs over the next 12 months, to reduce losses.
The BA management has already held many rounds of talks with the trade union and is expecting the job cuts to happen smoothly. But whether this is going to be the last round of job cuts, only God knows.
