A study has shown that those who become happiness through material possession are less happy. The people who pursue happiness through life experience are happier than their material counter parts. The research was lead by Leaf Van Boven a psychology professor from university of Colorado –Boulder.
The research was conducted for a period of ten years on some people. The research was taken by studying the social costs and benefits pursuing happiness. The way of pursing happiness was being studied in which acquisition of life experience and material possession was taken. The experience such as traveling, concerts were taken as life experience.
Purchase of fancy cars and jewelry were being taken as material experience. The comparison between these two was being done to the study. Most of the happiness is not attained by material possession when compared to life experience says the study. Investing in material possession will even make less popular among peers says the study. Whereas life experience give us satisfaction followed by happiness.
