In the modern warfare, war ships alone could not help countries to fight out your enemy country. You need powerful submarines which will be difficult to be identified by the enemies, and also would be capable of launching long range missiles from deep under the sea.
India is exactly getting there from now on, with the launch of its own domestically built nuclear powered submarine. By doing this, it has joined the elite group of US, UK, Russia, Germany, France and China, in having nuclear powered submarine technology.
The latest development is bound to kick off major arms race between Pakistan , India and even China in the coming years. That could spell good for US and Europe in the short term, and bad for the entire world in the long term.
