Chinese government has raised the retail prices of petrol and diesel by nearly 18% with a view to reduce the spiraling demand and also to reduce the mounting losses of the government run oil refining companies. The inflation in China is already running high at nearly 8% and this price increase is expected to take the inflation to double digits in coming months. This can lead to further increase in interest rates which will reduce the economic growth in coming quarters.
