China has hiked the export duty on Phosphorus ( that is used in the manufacture of matches,insecticides, pharmaceuticals, agro chemicals, lubricant additives and water treatment compounds etc) from 20% to 120% and this is expected to add to the cost of these items for India. India imports over 20000 tons of Phosphorous from China every year.
