The cash for clunkers program has done its duty and also has created enough of protests from the auto dealers because of the delay in the payment from government. The US government has therefore decided to close the scheme tomorrow i.e, 24/8/2009 and may not bring the scheme back in any other form, since the budget deficit is already running at record high levels.
Also there are some stray signs of recovery in the economy, which the government would like to exploit fully. The program was run for the last four weeks and it has already brought substantial increase in the automobile sales in the US market.
