Federal government of Australia has decided to spend some amount to upgrade the irrigation system. The irrigation system which will be upgraded will be in the Victoria state and the amount is $1 billion. The main reason for upgrading the Victoria irrigation system to help the farmers facing problems. Farmers in Victoria face a lot of problems from the environmentalists to reduce the water usage.

The second stage of the Victoria irrigation project will be completed during the year 2018 shows an emailed report. Victoria is an important agricultural region in Australia and has already invested some $1 billion during first stage. Julia Gillard ,the prime minister has been facing a lot of calls over the cut water allocations given to farmers. By cut water allocations the price of cotton,dairy and rice production will raise globally. Australia is at present world’s fourth largest exporter of some of the commodity and is investing to reduce the water wastage.

Minority labor government of Gillard takes the support from the Green’s Party which is asking for a water reductions. The water reductions in Australia will protect the river system and endangered plants and animals. The up gradation of the irrigation system will help to provide greater water security for the farmers and protect the environment.
