The revolutionary and fundamentalist leader of Iran, Ahmedinajed won his second term as Iran President, in spite of strong gains made by his opponent and previous PM Moulavi. Ahmedinajed has won the hearts of millions of poor and rural people who voted for his strong stance against US and Israel.

His stance on going ahead with Iran’s nuclear ambitions also seem to have aided his victory. But whether he will be able to pursue these goals further in the current global economic turmoil situation, only time will tell.

Iran has seen its revenues crash by over 40% in the last one year, which makes it difficult for it to spend millions of dollars on Arms and ammunitions and Nuclear ambitions, while there are millions of Iranian poor rural people who are without food and basic amenities.
